Weetabix Densified Rice

 

Years ago the popularity of our crisp rice gave rise to a new categoryof applications but upon testing was rejected due to its tendency to lose crispness in higher moisture applications and break easily. And so Weetabix set to work developing a denser crisp rice product. Designed to have few or none of the air pockets which make traditional crisp rice so light, this product has a range of twice to three times the density of traditional crisp rice. These factors also lend a greater moisture resistance as well as a firmer texture.

Recent successful applications include incorporation in a salad topping where the product lends the texture of a nut without any of the fat, in a topping for prepared fruit desserts, and as an ingre-dient in a health bar. While these products have a higher moisture content than traditional crisp rice applications, Densified Rice easily maintains its crunch and texture. Formulation can be without sugar for savory or health applications.
